FAQs

Central Ohio Tax Club
  • What are the advantages of being a member vs being a guest.

If you are a member, you will have access to the members only portion of the website. There is a member directory with contact information there so you can reach out to someone directly for help or advice. You will have access to the handouts for all meetings, not only the ones you attended. If you can’t find your handout from any meetings for the past few years, they are stored on the website. If you can’t find your CPE certificates, they are stored on the website for members only.
  • Does the CPE (Continuing Professional Education) qualify for the IRS?

The certificates are good for credit for CPAs in Ohio. The club does not issue certificates that Enrolled Agents can use.
  • Are all the meetings available by Zoom?

Only January, February and March meetings are available in Zoom. The rest of the meetings are in person only. Other times during the year we may have a need for a special Zoom meeting due to last-minute tax law changes so that we can update members timely.
  • What are the dates of the meetings for this year (September 2026 to August 2027)?

September 17, 2026 In-person meeting with two hours of CE October 15, 2026 In-person meeting with two hours of CE November 19, 2026 In-person meeting with two hours of CE December 17, 2026 Annual Federal Tax Update In-person meeting with a minimum of two hours of CE January 21, 2027 Annual Tax Forms Update Zoom meeting with a minimum of two hours of CE February 18, 2027 Zoom meeting with two hours of CE March 18, 2027 Zoom meeting with two hours of CE May 20, 2027 In-person meeting with two hours of CE August 19, 2027 In-person meeting with two hours of CE
  • What are the benefits of meetings in person?

Before the regularly scheduled topic we always bring up new tax releases, other tax continuing education events that you might find interesting and issues members are having with various agencies. You can also ask questions of the group. The food is always great.
  • Is there a cash bar at the meeting?

There is always a cash bar available at the in-person meetings. There is a limited selection of wine, beer, and hard liquor. The bar opens 30 minutes before the dinner portion of the meeting starts.
  • What topics are covered in the meetings?

Besides Federal, State and Local tax updates, past topics have been posted on the website. December is always tax updates for tax planning and January is always the tax forms update. We do not plan the year too far in advance, so we can pick topics that are timely. If you have a topic you are interested in, you can let us know and we can try to find a speaker on that topic.
  • Does the Central Ohio Tax Club provide networking opportunities?

Yes, members of the group are very open to sharing their expertise. Having a dinner meeting at round tables allows everyone to get to know other members during the meal.
