Meet With & Learn From Other Accounting Professionals

The Central Ohio Tax Club used to be a special interest group under the Ohio Society of CPAs, but new leadership discontinued this group. Consequently, we went out on our own and set up a not-for-profit organization for educational purposes.


Our core group has been around for 20-plus years. We have been an independent group since September 2015.


Enjoy Socializing, Networking, Dining, and Discussing Issues

We meet every third Thursday at The Levee, 670 Harmon Ave, Columbus, OH, 43223 (The restaurant phone is 614-358-5252).

  • Social is from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM, and there is a cash bar available
  • Dinner is from 6:00 PM to 6:40 PM
  • The speaker is from 6:40 PM to 8:20 PM and provides 2 hours of CPE (continuing professional education) authorized by the Ohio Accountancy Board.


Dinner is always great and, if you have special meal requirements, the restaurant will accommodate you. (We have one person who eats gluten-free meals.)

  • One night of CPE is $30.00 for 2 hours
  • One year of CPE is $200.00 for 18 hours +
  • If you cannot attend, someone from your office can take your place for free
  • With an annual CPE membership, you get the meeting handouts whether you come or not


Reservations are due the Monday before the meeting.


Share Problems, Ideas, & Solutions With Fellow Accountants

Before each meeting, Tim Oatney, our vice president, brings up current issues and asks whether anybody has had a problem or issue and whether anyone has any suggestions. The networking is well worth it because you can ask others in the group.


Topics are more than just federal tax. We cover anything timely, and sometimes we try to start the dinner early so we can get out earlier, or sometimes we have 3 hours of CPE. We have a member who submits the sign-in sheets, the speaker agenda, the outline, and more so that the Ohio Accountancy Board will issue the CPE.

Even if you are an EA and do not get IRS credit, the information is well worth it. The networking is great, and the meals are great, too! Our meals always include salad, an entrée, chef's choice dessert, coffee, water, and iced tea. There is a cash bar available with a limited selection of liquor.
